The article considers China’s reaction to the events in Ukraine. It analyzes the economic and geopolitical reasons for the increased attention by the PRC to the Ukrainian crisis.

K. Asmolov. China and North Korea: Issues and Prospects of Mutual Relations
The article analyzes the main trends influencing changes of strategy and tactics of China in the Korean question, the nature of relationship between China and the states of the Korean Peninsula; the range of Chinese assessments of acute regional problems; the methods by which China is strengthening its influence in the DPRK, and their prospects. Debunked is the idea that sooner or later China will leave alone its former ally in solidarity with the «international community».

The victory of coalition of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the Komeito Party in election to the lower house of Parliament in December 2012 led to stabilization of the domestic political situation in Japan. Strong position in Parliament and a high level of public support allowed the new government of Shinzo Abe to implement radical economic reforms, called «abenomics». An important part of foreign policy by Abe is the relationship inside the triangle «Russia—Japan—China».

V. Portyakov. Transformation of Economic Growth Model in the People’s Republic of China: Current Trends and Future Prospects
Evolution of the economic growth pattern in China in 1992–2013 is analyzed. Possible changes in next ten years in the economy annual growth rate and in the dynamics of accumulation, final consumption and export are examined.

Z. Muromtseva. PRC: the Fourth Stage of Reforming State-Owned Enterprises
The article considers the results of the three stages of reforming state-owned enterprises in China and objectives formulated at the Third Plenary Session of the CPC Central Committee (November 2013) in relation to the fourth phase of this reform. The whole complex is currently under development of measures aimed to attract strategic investors, to improve the corporate management and promote the joint-stock companies.

A. Kartunova. The Role of G. Chicherin in Chinese Policy of Soviet Russia
The article is devoted to the role of the prominent diplomat G. Chicherin in the development and implementation of Chinese policy by Soviet Russia, to his participation in the adjustment of its strategy and tactics, especially in relation to the problems of Chinese Eastern Railroad (CERR) and Mongolian issue in Sino-Soviet relations; to the role of Chicherin in establishing official Soviet-Chinese relations in 1927.

The beginning of the «renewal policy» in Vietnam in 1986 and especially the latest decade were the start of an active process of «humanization» of main stages in the modern history of Vietnam. Different monographic studies, devoted to the research and understanding of the activities of particular creators of the new Vietnamese history, have been appeared. The two heroes of the national liberation movement of Vietnam — Le Hong Phong and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, whose lives and destiny are inseparably linked with the USSR — have been selected as main persons for this essay.

Yu. Kupriyanova. Changes in Women’s Lives in Republican Shanghai
This article describes a new life of middle class Shanghai women as a result of changes in their social position during the Republic of China. It was characterized by the struggle of women for gaining equal rights with men, increasing their social status, for participation in production services and activities. Due to changes in lifestyle and social conditions of urban dwellers, compared to the previous time, residents of Shanghai had new opportunities for self-development and professional up-grading, but also had confronted with great difficulties of economic and psychological nature.

A. Malenkova. The Policy of Soviet Authorities in Relation to Chinese Diaspora in the USSR Far East in 1920’s–1930’s
The article suggests a periodization of the history of Chinese Diaspora in the USSR Far East in 1922–1938. Based on internal and external policy of the Soviet Union, on relationship between the Soviet authorities and Chinese migrants as well as changes within the Diaspora, three periods of its history had been pointed out. This approach helped to deeper analyze some successes of the policy in relation to migrants and to understand the reasons for deportation of Chinese Diaspora out of the USSR Far East.

Liu Yadin. Understanding and Dialogic Capacity: the Value of “Encyclopedia of Spiritual Culture of China”
The value of “Encyclopedia of Spiritual Culture of China” for Chinese readers is reviewed in line with the development of the world Sinology. The authors of the encyclopedia thoroughly understand the originality of Chinese culture in the light «of neo-Eurasianism». They consider the category of “Tao” from the cultural point of view and give an analysis of its values in all spheres of public consciousness and all the philosophies of China throughout Chinese history.

Many developing countries go through the stage of market reforms and liberalization of external economic sphere, but few have succeeded, comparable to the achievements of China. The secret, apparently, is exactly how these important transformations take place and how they take into account local and external conditions.

A. Zhebin. Events in Korea: a View from Russia
Important events in the DPRK during 2011–2013 gave rise to a new surge of interest about what is happening in this country. Arguing with single Russian experts in the Korean affairs on the assessment of some of events, the author concludes that in the political system of the DPRK and in the status of its new leader no fundamental change had been noticed in comparison with the period when the country was headed by Kim Il Jong.
