Basic Standards of Editorial and Publishing Ethics

The editorial Board of the «Far Eastern Affairs» in its activities is guided by generally accepted in the international scientific community standards of editorial and publishing ethics, peer review and authorship of scientific publications, which are enshrined in the Declaration of the Association of scientific editors and publishers, and in recommendations of the Committee on the ethics of scientific publications.

The main principles of editorial policy towards authors and to the documents and articles, presented by them for publication, are scientific character, objectivity, professionalism and impartiality.

The responsibility for making decision on publication entrusted to the Editor-in- chief, who is a key figure in determining the Journal’s policy, scientific direction and content of published materials. His activities are maximally relies on the opinion of the members of the editorial Board, editors and scientific reviewers.

Political views of the author, his origin, citizenship, religious beliefs, race, gender or other socio-demographic characteristics are not the basis to refuse the publication of submitted material if it meets the necessary scientific criteria and designed in accordance with the requirements of the journal to authors ‘ manuscripts.

Apart from impartiality and objectivity in its work, the Editor-in-chief and the editorial staff of the journal strictly adhere to the basic provisions of the current legislation of the Russian Federation regarding copyright infringement and plagiarism.

The author of the manuscript must ensure that presented material is original and does not contain plagiarism, even in the form of a lengthy quotation without proper reference to the source or slightly modified text without indicating the source of the original.

When working with the author’s article, the editorial Board comes from the authenticity of the submitted data and the scientific significance of the submitted material. Before publication the editorial Board shall coordinate with the author on the final version of the text after making all appropriate corrections and changes.

The Editorial Board adheres to the principle of confidentiality of the review process. Information about the submitted manuscripts should not be disclosed, and only the reviewers have access to the articles presented.

Expert assessment of the reviewer helps the editorial team in the evaluation of the submitted manuscript and deciding its fate. It may also assist the author in improvement of his original text.
