M. Titarenko, A. Lomanov. Political and Cultural Aspects of Strategy of Formation China as a Great Power
The article discusses the characteristics and specific features of the behavior of China as a new great power. In diplomacy China pays great attention to the creation of a new paradigm of relationship with neighboring countries, the elaboration of a meaningful concept of joint development. The transformation of the methodology of Chinese politics leads to the increasing role of traditional culture and values, an increasingly prominent place is occupied by the ethical categories of early Confucianism.

V. Kistanov. Foreign Policy of Japan in 2015: Where Will It Restart?
In 2015 the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe would address a number of difficult problems in order to improve relations with its Asian neighbors. Their solution has been complicated by the attempts of Abe to revise estimates of Japanese aggression in Asia in the middle of the last century. One of the main directions of Tokyo’s foreign policy is the strengthening of military-political alliance with the United States, the increased importance of military factors in foreign course of the country.

A. Voloshina. Sino-Japanese Relations in XXI Century: Problems and Prospects
The author examines the current state of Sino-Japanese relations and the prospects for their development, defines the main factors affecting the bilateral relations and analyses the efforts by Peking and Tokyo for their settlement in the light of the mutual agreement to resume political, diplomatic and security dialogue reached on November 7, 2014.

G. Lokshin. The Ideas of Ho Chi Minh in the Foreign Policy of Vietnam
The article discusses the activities of the founder of the Communist party of Vietnam, the leader of the August revolution, the first President of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh, his efforts to defend the country’s sovereignty and the fight against colonial domination. The author traces how ideas of Ho Chi Minh are implemented in foreign policy of modern Vietnam.

A. Kurmazov. Arctic Policy of Japan and Russia’s Interests
The interest of Japan to the use of potentials of the Arctic has been significantly increased recently. The scope of Japanese Arctic interests include the Northern Sea Route, scientific research of the Arctic, competition with neighboring Asian countries in the development of Arctic resources, territorial dispute with Russia in the epoch of the Northern Sea Route. Analysis of these trends shows that Japan seeks to increase its relevance in the Arctic Council.

O. Borokh. “The New Normality” with Chinese Characteristics
The article examines the economic concept of “new normality” elaborated by the leadership of the PRC in 2014. The author traces its main sources and key stages of formation, reveals its specific features that make Chinese version of the “new normality” different from Western approaches to post-crisis trends in global economy.

V. Balakin. The Build-Up of China’s Comprehensive National Power: the American Factor
In the last decade the American factor plays a significant role in promoting China’s efforts to build comprehensive national power. The U.S. are not able today to deal effectively with China’s geopolitical aspirations because of weakening of their economic position in East Asian region and the physical inability to accumulate there sufficient military superiority. In this context East Asia became the arena of fierce rivalry between the PRC and the U.S. allied with Japan that is leading its own strategic game.

M. Aleksandrova. The Policy of Reviving the Old Industrial Base in Northeast China
The article describes the situation, that prevailed in the northeast part of China in the early 2000`s. The detailed analysis is focused on the steps taken by Chinese leadership for economic revival of the region. The publication for the first time in the scientific literature contains detailed analysis of the Plan for development of the PRC North-East during the 12th five-year plan period.

The article analyzes the peculiarities of demographic situation in Shenzhen, shows the ways to overcome local residents’ “status gap”, briefly discusses the issues of labor, wages and social security of citizens. Rather high activity of trade unions and non-governmental organizations in Shenzhen has been marked.

A. Karneev. “Glasnost” with Chinese Characteristics: Some Current Trends in Chinese-Speaking Information Areal
The author explores the gradually changing landscape of public debate in Chinese-speaking information areal, which with the development of new information technologies is becoming more global. He analyzes the role of some Chinese language foreign media, that became widely known at the time of scandal related to Bo Xilai.

B. Gorbachev. External Assistance to China during the War with Japan (1937-1945)
The author stressed the importance of military aid to China from the USSR and the USA during the war against Japan in 1937-1945. He analyzes forms of Soviet military assistance to the struggle of Chinese people against Japanese aggression at different stages of the Second World War, as well as US military supplies to China under lend-lease.

D. Kuznetsov. “All Are Subject to Be Arrested”: Political Repressions in the USSR and the Fate of the So-Called “Harbin”
The article deals with the problem of political repressions against the so-called “Harbin”. It identified three key stages in which “Harbin” were persecuted by the Soviet authorities. In the situation where the scale of repression was becoming wider, “Harbin” who lived on the territory of foreign State, could not be left out, and their fate had been actually determined.
