The article describes the main trends and scientific developments in the study of Chinese philosophy and religion in Russia in this century, among which there are the creation of a comprehensive encyclopedia «Spiritual Culture of China», the studies in Neo-Confucian heritage and the role of the modern and contemporary Chinese philosophy in contacts of civilizations of China and the West, as well as the practical aspects of contemporary religious life in China.

The features of the geopolitical position of Russia in the Pacific area of intersection of the interests of the world ‘s largest «power centers» and the maritime powers — the U.S., China and Japan, — are considered.

K. Antipov. Cyber Conflict in Sino-US Relations and the Search for Dialogue

The escalation of conflict between China and the United States in cyberspace marked a crisis in Sino-US relations. However, the outcome of the informal meeting between Xi Jinping and Obama in California on 8–9, June 2013 indicate that the United States and China have the opportunity to advance to a new stage of cooperation in the security sphere.

Kim Yong-un. The Political Landscape in the Republic of Korea: Trends of Evolution

The 2012 parliamentary and presidential elections in the Republic of Korea led to a noticeable change in the political landscape. Since taking office, the new president began gradual reforms in the economy and the social sphere, which lead to further democratization of Korean society. A new political landscape also affects the inter-Korean relations, which have had positive changes as well.

Key words: parliamentary and presidential elections, the defeat of neo-conservatives, the process of recovery and building confidence on the Korean peninsula.

M. Alexandrova. Development of Foreign Trade Activities in Jilin Province during the Period of Economic Reforms

The external trade of Jilin Province is characterized by a negative trade balance, since it does not receive «dividends» from its economic and geographical position, bordering with the underdeveloped areas of Russia and North Korea. Before the global financial and economic crisis geographical directions of export-import flows of the province were poorly diversified. As a result of the reform of state enterprises and the adoption of «The Program for the revival of the old industrial bases in Northeast China» it has developed its own amendments to the “reach-out” strategy.

Sun Yao. Ways to Improve Sino-Russian Cooperation

The article noted the success of foreign economic cooperation with Russia in Heilongjiang Province. During its further development the proposed focus should be in the fields of information, transport infrastructure, tourism, e-commerce and bilateral cooperation between enterprises of China and Russia.

O. Borokh. Discussions about «Controlled Economy» in the Republican China (1930 ‘s — 1940’s)

The concept of «controlled economy» has gained popularity in the Republican China, thanks to the study of international experience and the challenges of accelerated industrial development in order to strengthen the country’s defense. The understanding of the Chinese specifics in economy and expanded influence of liberal ideas have made scientists to recognize the importance of market mechanisms and support of a mixed economy. Many aspects of the economic debate in 1930’s—1940’s are similar to disputes of contemporary Chinese researchers.

E. Pivovarova. Why is China «Standing Proudly in the East of the World»

The paper shows how in the course of reform in China a convergent socio-economic model of society with a reasonable combination of market and planned regulatory principles had been formed. The directions for search by world scientists and economists of optimal methods for state regulation of the economy have been considered.

The publication represents a versatile activities for the benefit of Russia by sea explorer and pioneer, Admiral Georgiy Ivanovich Nevelskoy whose the 200th birth anniversary is celebrated on December 5, 2013.

G. Romanova. Business, Agriculture and Crafts of Chinese Migrants in the Russian Far East (Late XIX — Early XX Century)

The author analyzes the economic activities of Chinese migrants in the Russian Far East in the fields of entrepreneurship, agriculture and crafts in the late XIX-early XX century. The mutual influence of material cultures of Russia and China was noted. The policy of Russian Far East administration to regulate economic processes between neighboring areas of Russia and China has been traced. New archival materials and works by Chinese historians were introduced into scientific circulation.

D. Yakimova. Japan’s Policy in the Field of Education and Training in Colonial Korea (1910–1945)

The article discusses the Japanese educational and training policy in colonial Korea within the frame of «cultural assimilation » of the Korean people. Particular attention is paid to the course of Japanese leadership against the historical education of Korean citizens. The introduction of «The Oath of subjects of Japanese Empire» and «Gymnastics for the subjects of the Empire» in order to strengthen the physical and moral spirits of the Koreans are also touched upon.

L. Afonina. Formation and Fundamental Aspects of Legal Regulation of the Religious Sphere in the People’s Republic of China

The article describes the main aspects and problems of state regulation of religious activities in China, sets out the content of the basic laws of the PRC that affect the field of religion, including «The Regulations on religious activities», reveals their political meaning.
