V. Portyakov. The Outlines of the Foreign Policy of the Fifth Generation Leadership of the PRC

The first results of the foreign policy course implemented by the fifth generation of PRC leadership are analyzed. The features of “continuity and novelty” in the international activities of Xi Jinping and his team are highlighted. It is shown that Beijing especially stresses the innovative nature of contemporary Chinese diplomacy.

M. Pietrasiak. China’s Interests and Foreign Policy Strategy in Relation to ASEAN

The article is devoted to actions by China, aimed at strengthening of the traditionally close relationship with ASEAN and prevention of destructive impacts of “third parties” on their relations. Various forms of interstate and inter-agency cooperation, diplomatic and economic relations between the PRC and ASEAN are discussed.

A. Shlyndov. Air Force of the People’s Liberation Army of China on the Path to Modernization and Development

In the published first part of the article the author described main stages of formation and development of military aviation in China, analyzed the purposes and tasks of the Air Force of PLA at the present stage, provided assessment of the prospects of development of the Air Force and its role in modern military strategic concepts of the PRC.

S. Sazonov. Diversification of Sources of Financing of Transportation Industry in China

In the beginning of XXI century particular relevance purchased the issues of financing the accelerated development of the transportation complex of the PRC. Although the budget allocations to this sector are considered to be the largest in the world, the Chinese government creates favorable conditions for domestic and foreign private capital for full-fledged participation in its financing.

V. Balakin. Mongolia in the Integration Processes of Eastern Asia

The article considers the issues of strategic positioning of Mongolia in the East Asia region. The authorities in Ulaanbaatar believe that the gathering force of East Asian integration is able to provide Mongolia with the real state sovereignty in ensuring sustainable economic interaction in the East Asian community.

D. Arincheva, A. Pantsov. «New Democracy» of Mao Zedong and a New Authoritarianism of Chiang Kai-shek: Two Paradigms of Social Progress of China in the Middle of the XX Century

The article analyzes proposed models of the future state structure of China: “new democracy” of Mao Zedong and the doctrine of the new authoritarianism by Chiang Kai-Shek, that varied in their objectives. While Mao Zedong spoke about the necessity of immediate to transition constitutional rule, Chiang Kai-shek, essentially, insisted on incomplete period of “political protection”.

The article considers the problem of the explication of the notion of «religion» in the concepts of the three leading representatives of modern Confucianism. Their interpretation of religion, on one hand, is tied with ethical theories of traditional Chinese philosophy, on the other, spliced with the concepts of Western studies in religion and metaphysics.

A. Каimova. On the Question of «Taiwanese Cultural Identity»

The article deals with “Taiwanese cultural identity” and the concept of «Taiwanese culture» in the opposition to the Chinese culture. It considers the main features of Taiwanese culture allowing primarily to representatives of Taiwanese nationalists proclaim its uniqueness in comparison with the culture of the opposite coast of the Taiwan Strait.
