A. Larin, A. Matveev. The Chinese Strategy of “Go West” and the New Silk Road
The article reveals the geopolitical and economic content of the new Chinese strategy of “moving westward”, and the challenges facing the implementation of this strategy. The authors explore the concept of the “Economic zone of the Silk road”, elaborated within the framework of this strategy. Special attention is paid to China’s activity directed to the formation of transcontinental railroads. Analysis is undertaken of Russia’s interests in the formation of a new “silk road”.

Kim Yong-Eun, Bae Bong Ki. Dokdo Islands: Regional and Bilateral Factors
Recently the relations between the States of Northeast Asia have aggravated due to the territorial claims of Japan to its neighbors. One of the complaints is the Dokdo Islands, that belong to the Republic of Korea and are controlled by it. The problem of these islands can be fairly resolved only on the basis of strict observance of legal and political results of the Second World War and the renouncement by Japan of any attempt to revise them.

Y. Morozov, E. Safronova. Humanitarian Presence of Russia and China in the Post-Soviet Europe and the Central Asian Segment of SCO
The authors note the specificity of humanitarian cooperation in Europe as the scope of application of diverse geopolitical forces. The article analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of humanitarian cooperation between Russia, China and some other countries among the Central Asian States, as well as possible directions of its development in the framework of the SCO.

S. Uyanayev. Cooperation between Russia, India and China in the Estimates by Academic Sphere
The article presents the evaluation of the trilateral cooperation by Russia, India and China (RIC-format), analyzes the debates and discussions within the 13th annual scientific conference of political scientists of the three countries. In the context of the world developments participants of the forum discussed the current stage of relations in the format of RIC, where, in their opinion, considerable incentives for multifaceted interaction are saved, and made suggestions about further promotion of trilateral relations.

A. Vinogradov. European Advance of Beijing — Tactics or Strategy?
The author examines the foreign policy of China towards Europe, where since the beginning of the year 2014 Beijing demonstrates unprecedented activity. Special attention is paid to the March visit by Chairman Xi Jinping to the EU and June visit in the UK and Greece by Premier of the State Council of China Li Keqiang. The conclusion is that the Chinese «spring offensive» in Europe is a response to the intensification of US policy in the Asia-Pacific region.

N. Koledenkova. The Condition and Prospects of Development of Power Engineering in China
The building of stable, reliable, efficient and environmentally clean electric power complex is regarded as one of the highlights in the development of the national economy of the PRC for the period up to 2020. Among the priorities in solution of this task is the raising of technical level of production of major types of corresponding equipment that is impossible without implementation of domestic innovative developments.

M. Demina. Trade Liberalization between Japan and the EU: Trends, Prospects, Problems
The Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between Japan and the EU has become the subject of bilateral negotiations since 2010. For the Japanese side it provides the opportunity to overcome tariff restrictions established by the EU, and create favorable conditions for competition with Korean suppliers on the European market.

E. Kranina. The Environmental Problems of China Reflected in the Decisions of the CPC Central Committee and the NPC Session of the 12th Convocation
The article analyzes the reasons that prompted the Chinese leadership to put environmental challenges on one of the central places in the work of the 3rd Plenum of the CPC Central Committee of the 18th convocation and of the 2nd session of the National People’s Congress of the 12th convocation. Conclusions are drawn on the plans and prospects of China regarding changes to the current catastrophic situation.

I. Sotnikova. The Shanghai Station of the Comintern International Communication Department in the 1920–1930s
The article is devoted to the history of the most secret division of the Comintern — the Department of international communication and its activities in China. On the base of new archival materials author traced the secret activities of the representatives of this department in Shanghai — the center of foreign intelligence work in China for many years.

A. Lomanov. Liberalism and Westernization in the Disputes of the 1930s about the Future of Chinese Culture
Views on intercultural communication of representatives of the liberal wing of the Chinese intellectuals in the Republican period are considered. The main attention is paid to the positions of Hu Shi and Chen Xujing, their performances during the 1935 discussion and different approaches to the interpretation of the concept of «Full Westernization». The ideas of freedom and individualism have had a significant impact on the attitudes of Chinese liberals to the prospects of development of national culture.

The documents and materials, which form the basis for military policy and military doctrine of the PRC, are examined. The question about the reality of the conclusion of Sino-Russian military-political union is raised. Based on the analysis of the existing Russian-Chinese treaties and agreements the authors come to the conclusion that in the short term this is not necessary.

B. Bazarov, L. Kuras. Mongolian Studies in the «Bulletin of Buryat Scientific Center of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences»
The article features an analysis of Mongolian studies section of the Bulletin of the Buryat Scientific Center of the SB RAS. The publications consider the ethnic, linguistic and historical components of the Mongolian history. Many publications are results of joint Russian-Mongolian projects supported by the Russian Humanities Foundation and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science of Mongolia, which testifies to their scientific significance and prospects of further research.
