А. Vinogradov. PRC — European Countries: the Structure of Multilateral Cooperation
After short period of “cooling down” in the first decade of the XXI century European direction in foreign policy of China is again becoming of paramount importance for Beijing. And “comprehensive” strategic partnership between China and the European Union is only one direction of foreign policy activities of China in Europe. The article attempts to summarize the various forms of cooperation between Beijing and European countries.

Xie Zhengzhen. Russian—Chinese Relations at Current Stage and Prospects of Their Development
The author examines the development of Russian-Chinese relations at present stage in political, economic and humanitarian spheres and in the international arena. Because of the convergence of Russian and Chinese positions on the main international issues and the deterioration of Sino-US relations the question of establishing Sino-Russian alliance is attracting greater attention. However, the author believes that the possibility of forming such an alliance is extremely little.

N. Mossaki. Evolution of Chinese Policy toward Iraqi Kurdistan
The article analyzes the dynamics of China’s relations with the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, the increased political role of which makes it an influential regional factor. Reduced dependence of China’s policy in Iraqi (South) Kurdistan on Sino-Iraqi relations, as well as the impact of “energy and economic context” on it are noted.

The article presents a comparative study of the political and electoral landscape model of Japan and the United States. Currently, Japan’s political system is undergoing a process of modernization. Comparing Japan with the United States, the authors conclude about the similarities in the development of the electoral landscape of both countries and the feasibility of borrowing American experience in Japan.

Li Jingyu, Zhang Chenyao. Strategy of Cooperation between China and Russia on the Northern Route of the Maritime Silk Road
In February 2014 Chinese President Xi Jinping during the talks with V. Putin in Sochi supported the cooperation between China and Russia in formation of the New Silk Road. The world media focused on the land and the sea (through the South China Sea, the Indian Ocean, the Suez Canal) versions. A lot of interest in China attracts also “short” sea route along the Arctic Ocean. The article contains ideas of Chinese scientists in this regard.

M. Zharikov. Yuan’s Contract Exchange Rate in Mutual Trade between Far Eastern Border District of Russia and China
The author starts from the hypothesis that the mutual trade in national currencies at the contractual exchange rate can play a positive role in the economic development of the Far Eastern regions of Russia. The article contains estimates of contract rates of renminbi used by Russian importers of Chinese products.

K. Efremova. Regional Cooperation in the Greater Mekong Sub-Region: Patterns of Interaction among Extra-Regional Powers
The article considered the main stages and results of the evolution of international cooperation in the Mekong river basin, marked priority areas for further development and the associated risks (environmental, socio-economic, humanitarian, political and military), analyzed the communication strategies of extra-regional powers (conflicting and cooperative) and offered recommendations for enhancing the Russian participation in regional integration processes in the Greater Mekong area, taking into account national interests of the States in the region.

The article analyzes the results of the meetings between the leaders of three countries held in Dushanbe in September 2014 and in Ufa in July 2015. The common challenges in the light of development of new international routes in line with China initiative of “economic belt of the Silk Road” are considered. The possibility of mating strategies of three countries through the establishment of an economic corridor Russia — Mongolia — China is revealed. The basic directions of joint cooperation are marked.

A. Tarasov. Russian National Parish Enhe in Barga: Problems of Russian National Identity in Border China
The emergence in China of Russian national Enhe parish raised the question of factors determining the identity of Russians in Chinese border area. The author attempts to highlight the history of the formation of this national group, to identify the key characteristics of group identification and self-identification of Russians in China, to show how in a group localization the Russian roots manifest themselves in daily life, language, culture, religion. The article analyzes in detail the impact of the national and cultural policy of the PRC on the situation with Chinese citizens of Russian nationality in the places of their residence. The study is based on the original materials of the township government of Enhe and the Society for Research of Russian nationality in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

А. Lomanov. Yin Haiguang and Transformation of Chinese Liberalism in the Middle of the 20th Century
The article deals with forming-up and developing of the views of Yin Haiguan, who had a significant influence on the formation of ideology of the democratic movement in Taiwan in 1950–1960s. It describes the evolution of scientific and political views of the thinker from his commitment to the ideals of the “May 4th Movement” to rethinking them and finding the ways for using the moral teachings of ancient China in modern democratic society.

M. Fedeneva. The Concept of “New Revisionism” and the Fight against Soviet Influence in North Korea in the First Half of the 1960s
On the basis of archival materials and other data the author disclosed the concept of “new revisionism” regarding the North Korean reality in the early 1960s, the place and role of this phenomenon in the Soviet-North Korean relations. The article describes the forms of struggle against the “new revisionism” in the DPRK and its implications for both sides.

M. Bordakov. Features of Publicizing Russian-Japanese War of 1904–1905 in the Far Eastern Press
The author reveals the peculiarities of publicizing the Russian-Japanese war of 1904–1905 in newspapers and magazines that appeared in the rear of an international conflict in which Russia played a key role. He points out that the population of the eastern regions of the empire did not treat the Japanese aggression as “yellow peril”, and often journalists and the public responded respectfully about the eastern neighbors and in a more restrained tones than the rest of Russia. This is, according to the author, the fundamental difference in the supply of information on Russian-Japanese conflict by Far Eastern newspapers to compare with publications in other Russian provinces.

E. Ikonnikova. Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands in European Literature: an Overview
This article describes the works of sailors, travelers, journalists and writers from Europe about Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands for the period of XVII — XX centuries, which focused on geopolitical situation in the region, the life of indigenous peoples and the perception of Sakhalin by A. Chekhov.
