N. Mamaeva. Publication of Sources as a Feature of the Development of Historical Science about China in Russia (1990s — the Early 2000s).

The article presents an analysis of the documents and materials that provide new information about Chinese policy by Moscow authorities and the Comintern, describing the political situation in China in the first half of the XX Century through the prism of the development of the national liberation and communist movements. Set of documents considered is a significant contribution to the development of the Comintern reseach.

A. Zhebin. DPRK: Unchanging Vector

The author analyzes the developments in North Korea after coming to power of the new leader Kim Jong-un, the changes that have occurred in its domestic and foreign policy. Much attention is paid to changes in the upper echelons of the leadership, including command of the armed forces. Attention is also paid to new developments in the approach by Pyongyang to nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula. An overview of the DPRK’s relations with China and Russia is provided.

A. Danilov. China and the Arctic

The article discusses the growing importance of the Arctic region for China. The author shows that China’s main interest in the Arctic is its energy and transport attractiveness. Analyzing the opinions of foreign and Chinese experts, he comes to the conclusion that China is in the stage of preparation of its Arctic strategy.

V. Portyakov. Development of Shenzhen in the Context of Changing China’s Economic Growth’ Model

Along with the main national dimension, modern adjustment of the economic growth model in China has also its local dimension. This allows to track and analyze the course, features and performance adjustments made ​​to the model of economic growth, not only at the central level, on the scale of the national economy as a whole, but also in specific regions. Significant interest in this context atracts the experience of economic development in Shenzhen in recent years. In the period of 2011–2013 it faced difficult conditions. Especially painful was the effect of deterioration of global economic conditions and increasing labor costs in China. At the same time, the prevailing situation has prompted city authorities to seek additional internal «endogenous» factors of economic growth.

As a result, the economic development of Shenzhen and practically implemented here in 2011–2013 the model of economic growth exhibit both similarities with all-over processes and trends, and the obvious “personal” characteristics. The article traced the main trends in the development of industry and services in Shenzhen in recent years.

Wei Liyan. «Xiamen Model»: the Experience of Formation of Social Housing System in China

In preparation for the introduction in the PRC of social housing system a successful experiment was carried out in the coastal city of Xiamen, that had developed and tested the relevant project. The article, prepared with the support of the Youth Endowment for the Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education of China (Xiamen University), is dedicated to the history and the most specific features of «Xiamen model».

V. Balakin. Sino-Indian Conflict on Asian Integration

The problem of model selection for Asian integration today is worth more than ever. A special place in the regional integration belongs to geostrategic rivalry influence that China and India have increased over the past 30 years. Their vulnerabilities are multi-ethnic societies in both countries with constant conflict situations whose resolution requires caution.

O. Pochagina. Changes in «One Family — One Child » Policy in China: Causes and Expected Results

The article examines the complex political, economic and social reasons for the need to adjust the policy of «one family — one child in China.» Changes in family planning policy are aimed to improve the sex and age structure of the population, to implement recommendations of demographers, sociologists, to meet the expectations of the population to promote the growth of domestic consumption, improve the country’s image in the international arena.

S. Goncharov. Interview with I. Kovalev: Two Interpretations of the Facts of History

The article by prominent Russian diplomat and scholar refuted distortion of historical truth, which appeared recently in Chinese scientific publications in relation to estimates of the interview by the former Soviet Party leadership representative in China I. Kovalev, published which was by FEA in the early 1990s.

O. Emelyanova, D. Shcherbakov. The Role of Asia in the Development of Foreign Trade and Economic Growth in Japan in XVIII–XIX Centuries

The authors analyze the processes of formation of Japan as an active participant in the international trade, reveal the development of export — import trade in Japan. The particular importance of the Asian market, which played a crucial role in the development of Japan as an exporter of finished products and in Japanese economy during the period since the «discovery of the country» up to the beginning of XX century are stressed.

A. Sharafetdinova. Establishment of the US-Korean Diplomatic Relations (1872–1885). Shufeldt’s Mission

Based on the analysis of the vast amount of documentary sources, the author attempts to assess the results of the «discovery» of Korea due to the signing of the US-Korean treaty in 1882. Sharing the views of domestic historians that this treaty was unequal, she still comes to the conclusion that it contained some good articles for Korea.

L. Perelomov. Era of Warring States Qin and Han (V c. BC — III c. AD) in the Fate of the Chinese Nation. In Connection with the Publication of Volume II of «History of China from Ancient Times to the Beginning of the XXI Century»

The author, executive editor of the publication, in detail introduces its content. Warring States era under consideration, he says, had a crucial meaning for the formation and development of Chinese civilization, when the main state institutions, which provided stable development of China for thousands years ahead, were formed.

Du Mingjing, Cao Zhongde. Literary Bridge Builders — on Popularization of Russian and Soviet Literature in China

Main attention is paid to the role of Publishing House «Popular Literature » (Renmin wenxue chubanshe) distributing Russian and Soviet literature in China, which had a profound impact on several generations of Chinese people.
